Grassroots Marketing Instruction

You can depend on us to help you to create a workable strategy

Any successful marketing campaign takes place at the grassroots level. Meaning, you need to quantify and qualify your efforts. Here is a quick dozen ways to create demand for your book title. Start within a 50 mile radius of where you live.

Newspapers: Contact the editor of the newspaper

Introduce yourself as a local author with a new book. You would like to send them a copy for their review. Only on the condition that they will actually look at it. You will not be able to guarantee that they will review it. But you can make sure that at least they say they will take a look at it.

Do not send the book blind

That is, do not address your letter to DEAR EDITOR. Do some phone work and find out the name of the editor and call they personally This goes a long way to building relationship. Relationships sell books. Do the same for each level.

  • Special interest editors

Radio Stations

Research the format of all the stations that you can receive on your radio

Both AM & FM bands. By format I mean are they all music, talk, a combination of both?

Do they have any time for local interest stores? Do you have a favorite disc jockey? Do you already know anyone in radio? A local salesman perhaps?

Repeat the steps as I mentions under Newspapers

Call and get a name. Talk with them. Let them know who you are and what you have of interest to say.

Here's the golden question to ask each and every time!

Regardless of whether they can help you or not always ask, “Do you know of anyone else who might be able to help me?
